WHAT TO EXPECT AT ST. PETER'S

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Upon instruction from the Bishop, and out of an abundance of caution, all public worship services are cancelled until the Diocese deems in-person meetings to be safe for all and protocols are in place to ensure guidelines are being carefully followed. See our Worship Page for online service information.
Our worship services are led by Guest Preachers, with parishioners serving as readers, musicians, and lay ministers.
Our liturgical style is informal but reverent broad church, Rite II. We use liturgies from the Book of Common Prayer and Enriching our Worship. Children are encouraged to join us for the service at any age, and are often provided opportunities to read scripture, collect offerings, or simply to stand close while communion is prepared so they can see what is happening. We also provide a Children's Corner in the Sanctuary if they (and their family members) prefer their own, child-friendly space to hang out during the service as well.
We are a friendly and celebratory church, and our worship service reflects that. Our services always begin with this statement: “No matter who you are, or where you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome here.” That statement is deeply cherished by our congregation and is weaved into the way we celebrate each aspect of our service, from the readings and gospel, through our hymns and prayers together.
We enjoy passing of the peace as an opportunity to connect with one another. All are welcome to to receive communion or a blessing if they prefer. It is important for us to celebrate baptisms and weddings, and to support each other for funerals or other special occasions. We also pray for individual birthdays, anniversaries, and travel, or other special prayers for our community. We know each other, and it’s important for us to use some of our worship time to lift each other up.
Everyone is invited to join us for an informal coffee hour at the end of the service. It is our opportunity to spend more time catching up with one another and enjoying fellowship together.
