The People of St. Peter’s
Welcome! St. Peter’s Church in Redwood City, California is a parish
that strives to respect and celebrate God’s gift of a wonderfully
diverse people in our town and in the surrounding Bay Area. We have a
rich history of more than 140 years in this place — going back to
the very founding of Redwood City. Throughout the years as our town
has changed, so has St. Peter’s. But in the spirit and tradition
of the Episcopal Church, we have always sought to welcome all
newcomers to join us on the journey of faith.
Today we are a modest-sized congregation of 150-200 faithful women, men, and children. We are from the Americas, Africa, Asia, the Pacific and Europe. We are single, married, and have life partners. We are raising children and living on our own. We are retired, working at home and in the workplace, and supporting each other as we strive to make ends meet in the busy lifestyle of the Peninsula and Silicon Valley
Father Chip’s duties frequently take him away from the office for home and hospital visits and other ministry in the neighborhood. He’s usually in the office Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. In an emergency he can be reached on his mobile phone at +1 (650) 766-2852.

Music Minister
St. Peter's is currently in the process of interviewing for an interim Minister of Music and will be engaging a process for finding a permanent Director of Music this summer.Mark Weiss, Sexton
For centuries, churches have been blessed with people who know
every square inch of the property and keep it running smoothly. While
it’s true that most dictionaries will define the word
“sexton” as a person who cares for buildings and grounds, it
is also true that sextons have a distinguished tradition of preserving
houses of worship for future generations. The Vestry
The Episcopal Church traces its roots in the United States to
English settlers who brought with them the Church of England. After
the Revolution, the Church of England in America adopted the name of
“The Protestant Episcopal Church in the U.S.A.” in
1789. Little wonder then that St. Peter’s, like most Episcopal
parishes, is organized somewhat like New England townships. The
congregation elects representatives to the leadership group. This
group is called the Vestry and has responsibility for the temporal (or
non-spiritual) matters of the parish. A total of 9 people and Rector
make up the Vestry. The Rector selects one of the elected
representatives to be the Sr. Warden and the Vestry elects one of
their own to be the Jr. Warden. The Vestry are:
